Ardsley Insider: Greenburgh Town Board to appoint Ardsley's Erin McGoey as our next Town Judge Wednesday evening.

 

Erin will replace Supreme Court Judge Christie D'Alessio was was elected to the higher court in November.

The Greenburgh Town Board will appoint Erin McGoey of Ardsley as our next Town Judge this Wednesday evening at our first meeting of 2022. Erin McGoey will replace Judge Christie D'Alessio who was elected to the State Supreme Court in November.  Our future Judge will serve a one year term. There will be an election for the Judicial position this coming November. It is expected that Erin McGoey will seek a full term of office on election day.

In recent months I have received many calls from lawyers, community leaders who have spoken very highly about Erin-- praising her intellect, writing skills, demeanor and most important of all her caring nature and empathy . Board members believe that she will treat the accused and victims and their advocates with even hand handed fairness. And that she will listen. The community will be well served when Judge McGoey assumes her position on Wednesday.

Ms. McGoey has been licensed to practice law in the State of New York for the past 15 years, the vast majority of which has been dedicated to public service and public servants.  Erin began her law career as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Yonkers, a position she held for approximately 2 years.  Then Erin spent the next 8 years as an Assistant Westchester County Attorney.  Following almost 3 years as a Senior Associate Attorney for the White Plains office of a regional law firm, Erin became Deputy General Counsel at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in NYC.   For the past 2 ½ years Erin has served as the Deputy Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities.

 

Erin is eager to continue her public service as Justice of the Greenburgh Town Court and is looking forward to joining Justice Dolores Brathwaite and Justice Bonnie Orden in serving the residents and visitors to the Town of Greenburgh.   Erin looks forward to expanding the Court’s internship program exploring all alternatives to incarceration and programs that seek to reduce recidivism. Erin is also excited to assist and expand the Youth Court in Greenburgh.

 

Erin is a member of several Bar Associations, including the Westchester County Bar Association and the Westchester Women’s Bar Association and has been actively involved in several community and charitable organizations in Greenburgh and Westchester County.  

 

Erin is a long-time resident of Greenburgh and currently lives in the Village of Ardsley with her husband Barry and their three young children Madeline (12), John (10) and Matthew (8).

The meeting on Wednesday evening will be hybrid. Because of COVID-19 we are asking residents to participate remotely. Some Board members may choose to also participate remotely. Others will participate from Town Hall.
